Vitanje

The name "Weitenstein", which is used for Vitanje on older maps, means Vid’s stone.

A person is proud if a famous person once lived in the same town as where one lives now. The name of Herman Potočnik Noordung, who has significantly marked the field of rocket technology and is the European pioneer of space flight and tech- nologies, is becoming increasingly known. In the centre of Vitanje, there is the Cul- tural Centre of European Space Technologies (KSEVT) that takes over a strategic position and role in Vitanje. The clay was dug by Marjeta Lužnik.
