The clay pit Boreci

The clay pit is located in Boreci near the settlement of Križevci pri Ljutomeru. The clay has been used for the production of roofing tiles since the start of the brickworks in Boreci. It is composed of three layers, namely: a loam, then gray clay and the lowest layer contains black clay, which is not dug out in order to protect drinking water. The clay from the Boreci clay pit, which is used for making bricks and roofing tiles, has the highest quality in Europe.
