In good company
My complete works in clay comprise around 7,000 small sculptures in size up to 20 cm.
A four-legged animal creature has hands and this somehow defines it as a simian. It wears clothes and uses other human attributes (musical instruments, tools, books, dishes) and behaves as humanly as possible. It is a humanized animal. This means that it plays, sings and socializes. Of course, the character cultivated its own appropriate animals, which, if applicable, I add them to larger groups. I combine the clay sculptures into thematic exhibitions that emphasize one of the groups. The figurines create stories through interaction (ensemble, choir, funeral, wedding ...).
I believe that my small clay sculptures set a fine example of decorative art, a handicraft with the added value that covers the field of fine arts with large-scale installations.
Sample 68 is clay from Strunjan (Slovene Littoral). The recommended firing temperature is 900–1300 °C. At 1300 °C shrinkage is 0 % and porosity 4 %.
